Peter James
CEO, President
Peter is the CEO of ASA Properties and leads the Texas-based project delivery team. He is also one of Australia’s most prominent land development consultants, having led for 25+ years one of the country’s largest private, multidisciplinary firms – Conics Ltd with over 600 employees – specializing in urban growth, infrastructure, and natural resources. Peter, as Managing Director, managed the sale of Conics to UK LSE-listed RPS Group, and remained as Managing Director until 2015.
He specializes in strategic advisory and project management of some of the largest and most complex projects in Australia’s key growth areas; working for both major ASX listed development clients and governmental entities. Peter’s experience has focused on large scale residential and mixed use developments and internationally recognized resort destinations along the eastern seaboard, from Sydney to Cairns.
He is now a resident of New Braunfels with his wife, Katie, and involved in various local committees and groups.
John Steffensen
Former Director Funds Management of QIC
John, now retired, was the Director, Funds Management of QIC. With 35+ years within the property industry having previously served in leadership roles at EY and Arthur Anderson. John lead and managed the funds and management, and capital transactions teams within QIC Global Real Estate, with assets under management in the order of AU$10B. John graduated from Queensland Agricultural College in Business (Real Estate Valuation) and RMIT University in General Knowledge and Securities Studies; in addition to being a certified practicing appraiser and holding a current real estate license, John is an Affiliate of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland.
Mark Stopford
Project Development Manager of Qld Construction Alliance
Mark is the Project Development Manager at Qld Construction Alliance. After starting his career as a Registered Surveyor in Cairns, he became part of a leadership team that created Conics, one of Australia’s largest private, multidisciplinary consultancies providing advisory and technical services to the urban growth, infrastructure and resources sectors.
Paul Laxon
Former Managing Partner of EY
Paul is the former Managing Partner EY Queensland with over 30 years experience in advising public and private sector clients across infrastructure, asset management and energy and utility sectors. He also has extensive experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, due diligence related work, and IPO transactions. He is also a board member of EY’s Asia-Pacific Advisory Council. Paul is the former Chair of Hear and Say – a local charity that provides services to children with hearing disabilities and their families. Paul graduated from the University of Queensland in Commerce, and is formerly a Fellow of the Tax Institute and Associate Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand.
